Julissa Freund, a first-generation college student at UNH, joined UNH’s Collect Stem program, which pushed her to take on new challenges, including the McNair Scholars Program. As a McNair scholar, she has worked with professor Jim Malley on research pertaining to the societal, economic and environmental aspects of providing clean and safe drinking water to small communities.
The research not only benefits the researcher’s knowledge base, but the results can also help so many people.
She will join the Ocean and Coastal Research Experiences for Undergraduates program (OCEANUS) this summer in the Gulf Coast to research the impact of oil spills.
